Cruise Description

27 Night Cruise sailing from Port Louis to Venice aboard Costa Mediterranea.

A real journey in art: portrait galleries, circling cupids, Baroque frames, Costa Mediterranea welcomes you to a festive and refined atmosphere that is meant to represent a modern search for beauty.

Highlights of this cruise:

Port Louis
The friendliness and hospitality of the Mauritians add a touch of folklore to the beauty of the Mascarene Islands, which comes from its magnificent beaches and preponderant nature.
Port Louis, capital of Mauritius, is named for Louis XV. It is an open port on the Indian Ocean in the heart of the archipelago of the Mascarene Islands. The city enjoys a mild climate that will make your stop an idyllic stay. During the stop in Port Louis don’t forget to place a bet at the Crown Lodge and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the racetracks. You can observe crocodiles and giant tortoises that inhabit the nature reserve of Vanille. Finally, the majestic Ile des Deux Cocos will amaze you, popping up from the sapphire ocean.

Victoria
Port Victoria, on the island of Mahé, is the main port for the Seychelles and the gateway to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
The port of Victoria welcomes you into an environment dominated by coral reefs, where the turquoise water gently laps up onto the white sandy beaches. Besides the beautiful beaches and diving, Victoria invites you to explore the green hills that are reflected in the Indian Ocean. You can stroll around the capital with its typical colonial houses and its unmissable market where you can buy souvenirs. Victoria's vibrant nightlife will seduce you and mesmerise you with its exotic rhythms.

Salalah
The use of incense is an ancient tradition, but only in Salalah in Oman do we find a museum dedicated entirely to this plant resin.
Use this stop in the port of Salalah to discover the second most important city of the Sultanate of Oman and the capital of Dhofar. After visiting the Al Baleed archaeological park you can admire the magnificent Museum of the Land of Frankincense, and then enjoy the great views from the beach of Al Fazayih.

Eilath
The only port of Israel on the Red Sea: Eilat has waters for diving that are amongst the most beautiful in the world, but don’t miss the shore excursions in the desert on camels.
The Port of Eilat, which offers a stunning panorama and bustling activity, is the only port in Israel overlooking the Red Sea. The seabed and coral reefs will take your breath away and you will be captivated by the intensity of its daily life. During a stop in Jerusalem, visiting the underwater observatory, while a short shore excursion on camels in the Negev Desert will offer you the chance to admire the dry land, the mountains and the Mediterranean stretching as far as the eye can see.

Aqaba
Your stop in Jordan will be a dream: from Aqaba you can easily reach the beautiful lost city of Petra.
Take advantage of this stop in the port of Aqaba to discover one of the finest jewels of the Red Sea. Aqaba, Jordan's only port city that hosts the country's only seaport, is known worldwide for its beautiful seaside resorts, famous dive sites and renowned tourist spots. During your stay, don't miss the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Petra, a historic site and one of the 7 wonders of the world. You can also visit the marine park and other city attractions.

Limassol
In Limassol the ancient buildings, which echo the deeds of Richard the Lionheart, create a fascinating contrast with the modern structures enriched by the murals of street art.
Limassol is the economic capital of the south coast of Cyprus. Visit the port of Limassol, which is part of the historical legacy of the city, and go to the castle to discover the exploits of Richard the Lionheart and the medieval past of the city. In a blend of eras and cultures, the ancient buildings coexist with modern structures and graffiti street art. Admire the Turkish architecture, enjoy a kebab and visit the park of sculptures before the cruise resumes on its course.

Crete
rete is part of the history of the Mediterranean. The myth about Theseus, the Minotaur in the labyrinth of Knossos and Ariadne's famous thread is among the best known in the world.
The stop at Heraklion starts with a visit to the port of Crete. Situated in the centre of the island, this former British watchtower has a long history. You cannot land on the island that gave birth to the legend of the Minotaur without visiting the ancient Palace of Knossos. Its ancient Minoan ruins and its maze of corridors and rooms evoke the famous Greek myth of the labyrinth. Equally impressive is the island fortress of Spinalonga, which is well worth a visit. Heraklion embodies the charm of an era both ancient and medieval.

Santorini
The cliffs of Santorini island shine with the bright white reflection from the houses that dominate the Mediterranean from the top of their summit.
Upon arrival at the port of Santorini, you will be enchanted by the charm of the lagoon that surrounds this beautiful volcanic island. The harmony between the crystal blue water and the white villages located at the top of the cliffs is exceptional. Make the most of your trip to Santorini by visiting the lava beaches. Their black color makes them truly spectacular. Archaeology lovers should not miss the chance to visit Akotiri. Excavations have unearthed Minoan ruins and a city that dates back to the Cycladic civilization.

Katakolon
The spirit of the Olympics still lingers in their hometown of Olympia. From the port of Katakolon you can easily reach the site of the legendary ancient athletes.
During the stopover in Katakolon, treat yourself to a visit to the port located on the Bay of Agios Andreas; despite having undergone several changes, it has managed to retain its historic soul. Do not miss the chance to visit the archaeological site of Olympia, one of the largest in Greece, which hosted the first Panhellenic Olympic Games. Katakolon is a small tourist town: have fun and discover the ways of its inhabitants, stroll among flowering streets and sit in one of the many cafés.

Corfu
Full of Mediterranean charm, Corfu perfectly expresses the classical concept of beauty tied to these places. Today it’s a popular tourist destination that has maintained high standards of quality and tranquillity.
The Port of Corfu, Neo Limani, is just a few minutes' walk from the city centre, so easy to reach from the quayside. Entrance to the town lies at the foot of the New Fortress. At this point, stopping at Corfu lets you roam the narrow streets lined with tourist shops. Complete your tour of the island with total immersion in the lush greenery: olive trees, orange trees, cypresses as well as cultural events in the heart of the walled city are the norm!

Dubrovnik
Facing the Adriatic Sea, the city is famous for its walls, built in stages from ancient times to the present, surrounding it, along with the port. Its splendid historical centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, exudes charm at every corner: the pearl of the Adriatic, as Lord Byron called it.
Dubrovnik is located in the south of Croatia, on the Dalmatian coast, and is protected from the bora and scirocco. This means that its climate is pleasant, even in the summer months. Its sea is among the cleanest and bluest in the world and, breathing deeply on the coast, you cannot help but feel the scent of pine trees, which surround the beaches and cool the hottest hours of the day. The beaches, amongst the most beautiful of the whole of Croatia, are uncrowded and perfect for romantic evenings by the sea.

Split
The antiquity of Split harbour is testified by the presence of a palace built by Emperor Diocletian 295 BC.
Split harbour is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful, but also one of the oldest in the Adriatic: it is over 1,700 years old, and is surrounded by an extraordinary historical heritage. You can easily reach the nearby islands from here. With its 16 towers and three temples, the Palace of Diocletian, built in around 295 BC, still enjoys an extraordinary state of preservation that makes this an unmissable stage during our stop-off.

Venice
Venice, home of romance, well known as the city of water, also knows as "La Serenissima."
The port of Venice and the city itself looks out towards the Adriatic Sea. The city of the Doges is situated in the middle of a lagoon, has more canals than roads and boasts incredible beauty and a unique charm derived from centuries of history. The best way to see the city and to discover and admire the palaces and churches is to travel along the canals in a gondola. This will take you to Piazza San Marco, the site of the Doge's Palace, a jewel of Venetian architecture. Alternatively, art lovers can explore the Pinault Foundation in the Palazzo Grassi, before continuing with their cruise in the Mediterranean.
